Sword Art Online: Extra Edition to be shown worldwide

A while ago, it was announced that Aniplex’s Sword Art Online anime will be receiving a two-hour long special episode on New Years Eve titled Sword Art Online: Extra Edition, which will recap 25 episode series as well as featuring new footage. Today, Aniplex revealed that the special will be streamed worldwide immediatly following its Japanese premiere. Crunchyroll and Daisuki will be streaming the special in English-speaking countries, while NicoNico will be streaming the special in Japan.

Aniplex’s official summary of the special’s story is as follows:

Kirito and the others decide to go on an underwater quest within the world of ALO to grant Yui her wish to see a whale. As they all prepare for the quest, they face a shocking revelation… Leafa, or Suguha is afraid of water. So, Asuna and the other female members to decide to teach Suguha how to swim at a pool in the real world. Meanwhile, Kirito is meeting somebody…
