Gordon-Levitt leads English The Wind Rises cast
Today, Studio Ghibli announced the cast for the English language dub of The Wind Rises, the Golden Globe-nominated final theatrical feature from acclaimed Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki.
Long-time Studio Ghibli fan Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Don John) has been cast in the lead role of Jiro Horikoshi, a young Japanaese boy who is spurned on by a dream to build planes. Studio Ghibli has always been known for having an all-star cast for its films, but with Gordon-Levitt being one of Hollywood’s hottest talent at the moment, he leads a spectacular cast that also includes Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, Edge of Tomorrow) as Nahoko, Jiro’s love interest who is dying from turbuculosis. Emily Blunt also brings her family along for the ride, with husband John Krasinski (The Office, Monsters University) playing aircraft designer Honyo and brother-in-law Stanley Tucci (Captain America: The First Avenger, The Hunger Games) as Italian plane designer Giovanni Caproni.
The full English cast is as follows:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt — Jiro Horikoshi
Emily Blunt — Nahoko Satomi
John Krasinski — Honjo
Martin Short — Kurokawa
Stanley Tucci — Caproni
Mandy Patinkin — Hattori
