Anime Limited release schedule includes Gurren Lagann and…Space Dandy!

Studio BONES’ and Shinichiro Watanabe’s science fiction comedy Space Dandy had the honour of premiering in the United States on Adult Swim’s Toonami block before its Japanese Tokyo MX debut, which took a lot of hard work, such as completing an English dub before the Japanese version could be broadcast. The overseas market is clearly seeing the effect this will hve on the home video releases of the anime, as UK retailer anime-on-line has updated their website to include pre-orders for upcoming releases from UK distributor Anime Limited, which includes a 24th November DVD and Blu-Ray release for Space Dandy Complete Collection!

Another release that finally has a release date is the 2nd June release of the highly anticipated Gurren Lagann: Gurren-dan Edition, which retails for £149.99 (although it will be cheaper online). For those of you who do not wish to purchase such a lavish luxury edition, the series will also be released in regular DVD and Blu-Ray collections on 20th October. Their full schedule, excluding titles without release dates, is currently as follows:

  • 10th February 2014: Garden of Words (DVD and Blu-Ray)
  • 24th February: Outlaw Star Complete Collection (DVD), Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning (DVD/BD Combi-Pack)
  • 24th March: Durarara!!! Complete Set (DVD), Durarara!!! Limited Edition (Blu-Ray)

UPDATE: Anime Limited

have posted an announcement on their website, confirming the contents of the Gurren Lagann: Gurren-dan Edition and its limited print run:

Gurren’s Ultimate Edition will be a limited quantity run with 50 page hardback artbook, all the extras we can get our hands on including the Nintendo DS OVA (that said, some of the Japanese edition’s are exclusive so we can’t touch them).  This will be a one-print run job of maximum 2,000 units and the price-point reflects that.

As well as the details on the regular Gurren Lagann releases:

– Gurren Regular BD set will be the TV series only in High-Definition with select extras that came with the original release in the UK and USA – the goal there is a £59.99 SRP product so it’s accessible to those who do not want all the bells and whistles.  A Movie / Parallel Works combo pack is being evaluated as a standalone product too but of course depends on if it’s something fans would like.

– Gurren DVD collectors set will be in a rigid case and includes movies & parallel works BD set has and 4 limited edition art cards.

An “Ultimate Edition” for Escaflowne was also listed in their upcoming 2014 slate, amongst the list of titles currently without release dates.

Anime Limited also announced that next week, a Kickstarter will be launched for both the United Kingdon and United States for a title that previously fell off the radar in both territories.
