Mai Mai Miracle to broadcast on VICELAND UK on 30th December 2017

Over the past couple of months a fair amount of anime have landed on the UK television channel VICELAND thanks to distributor Anime Limited. And quite a lot of them were more or less discovered without any official announcement whatsoever. Today, this is another case and it’s airing pretty soon.

Mai Mai Miracle will be coming to VICELAND UK on Saturday 30th December 2017 at 7:10pm (19:10 BST) in English audio. The movie is one of Anime Limited’s earlier titles and was even crowdfunded for an official English release. The English dub was produced by NYAV Post and offers a unique treatment thanks to the addition of child voice actors for the main leading roles.

The film is directed by Sunao Katabuchi, who also directed the recently well-received In This Corner of the World as well as older titles including Studio 4C’s Princess Arete and Studio Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service as assistant director. Katabuchi will also be contributing the writing for Bandai Namco’s upcoming Ace Combat 7 video game.

Shinko, is a third grade elementary school student with a magically active imagination. She spends a lot of her time listening to her grandfather’s history lessons, imagining what her town was like 1,000 years earlier.

One day, a sad and sombre girl called Kiiko transfers to Shinko’s school from Tokyo. A strong friendship soon grows between the two girls as Shinko helps Kiiko come out of her shell and deal with her loss – all thanks to their adventures, both imagined and real.

Mai Mai Miracle is available on Blu-ray & DVD from Anime Limited.

UPDATE: VICELAND will also be re-airing two previous films that were once shown through the channel a couple months back. On Tuesday 26th December 2017 (aka Boxing Day), Patema Inverted will be back at 7:05pm. Then the next day later A Letter to Momo will also be back at 7:00pm.
