Akira and Perfect Blue to broadcast on VICELAND UK!

VICELAND continues the trend of offering more anime for their UK television channel.

For those who don’t know, VICELAND have been showing classic and recent anime titles throughout the past couple of months including Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Samurai Champloo and more. All of the titles are presented in English audio only and is available on Sky channel 153 and via NOW TV subscription service.

Airing on the channel soon are two excellent anime films:

Akira

Neo-Tokyo, 2019. The city is being rebuilt post World War III when two high school drop outs, Kaneda and Tetsuo stumble across a secret government project to develop a new weapon – telekinetic humans. After Tetsuo is captured by the military and experimented on, he gains psychic abilities and learns about the existence of the project’s most powerful subject, Akira. Both dangerous and destructive, Kaneda must take it upon himself to stop both Tetsuo and Akira before things get out of control and the city is destroyed once again.

Leaving the world of J-pop behind her, Mima Kirigoe begins life as an actress on a crime drama show called Double Blind. When offered a lead role in the show as a rape victim, Mima accepts the role despite reservations from her manager. However, the backlash from fans over her career change and a strange website called ‘Mima’s Room’ written by a fake Mima begin to worry her. When a stalker appears and people involved in Double Blind begin turning up dead and all the evidence pointing to her, Mima is thrown into a state of confusion, madness and paranoia.
