The Asterisk War & Fate/Grand Order -First Order- Now Streaming on Netflix

Earlier in the weeks we noted down the expected release slate for the month of July with anime on Netflix, and two of the titles have now made an appearance on the service!

The Asterisk War is now available in both English & Japanese audio with English, French, Polish, Portuguese and Arabic subtitles. All 24 episodes (aka both seasons) are available.

Invertia… an unprecedented disaster that struck the world during the 20th century. Because of this disaster, numerous cities around the world were destroyed. However, within the meteor, an unknown element called mana was discovered, which allowed human technology to make rapid strides. This also gave rise to a new species of human born with unique skills – the Star Pulse Generation. The setting for the world’s greatest comprehensive battle spectacle, the Festas, is an academy city above the water surrounded by six academies called Rikka also commonly known as Asterisk.

Aniplex of America licensed and released the series on Blu-ray in the US & Canada, and MVM Entertainment will soon release the series on Blu-ray & DVD in the UK & Ireland starting this Summer.

Fate/Grand Order -First Order- is also available in both English & Japanese audio with English, French, Polish, Portuguese and Arabic subtitles. This OVA is located under the ‘Films’ section on the service.

The Chaldea Security Organization was founded to focus on preserving the continuation of human history. They observe a world which magecraft couldn’t observe, and science couldn’t measure, all to prevent the certain extinction of humanity. But one day, the future that Chaldea continued to observe disappears and humanity’s extinction in 2017 becomes clear. Based on the assumption that Fuyuki, a provincial town in Japan, is the reason for humanity’s extinction, Chaldea issues an order to explore, investigate, and possibly destroy this singularity – a quest for the Holy Grail, the Grand Order.

Aniplex of America licensed and released the OVA on Blu-ray in the US & Canada, and MVM Entertainment have done the same on Blu-ray & DVD in the UK & Ireland.

In case you missed our previous article the latest Fate anime series Fate/EXTRA Last Encore is also available as part of the Netflix Originals line-up in multiple audio & subtitle languages including English & Japanese. The Netflix launch covers the first arc ‘Oblitus Copernican Theory’ which aired last January and includes all 10 episodes of the series available thus far.

Hakuno Kishinami finds himself in the midst of a Holy Grail war with no memories of how he got there. Through his confusion, he must fight to survive.

In terms of other Netflix related news, both Black Lagoon and Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail are now no longer available for the UK & Ireland. Both titles were released on Blu-ray & DVD from distributor KAZE UK (while Funimation released them in US & Canada).

As for the Summer 2018 anime season, currently Netflix have Sword Gai the Animation Part II scheduled for 30th July while Baki and Fate/EXTRA Last Encore’s Illustrias Geocentrism Theory are scheduled for Netflix Japan this season with the rest of the world later on. There’s also a possibility that Back Street Girls may be Netflix exclusive however details are currently not final at the time of this article.
