Share Your Stories of Kyoto Animation

From The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On!, A Silent Voice and many more, the vibrant works of Kyoto Animation have brought joy and wonder to people the world over, setting industry trends and creatng enduring pop culture icons. To a lot of people, these stories also mean much more than entertainment. They can inspire us, allow us to create memories with other fans, and even offer windows of escapism when life gets tough.

On 18 July 2019, thirty-four people were killed in an arson attack on Kyoto Animation’s 1st studio building, with many more injured. Anime companies and fans worldwide have come together to show their solidarity with Kyoto Animation, with North American distributor Sentai Filmworks even launching a GoFundMe raising over $1,000,000 for the studio. Even if they didn’t know it, Kyoto Animation were there for many of us when we needed them, and now it’s time for us to return the favour, by telling them just how much their work, and those of their colleagues, really means to us.

We at Anime UK News each have our own personal stories of how this charming studio has helped shape our lives, and we want to give you an opportunity to let yours be known as well. We are currently preparing a tribute to the ways Kyoto Animation’s anime have helped us or changed our lives, and we would love to your stories to be a part of it.
