Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie & Special Edition OVAs UK Blu-ray Details Revealed with August 2020 Release Window
Distributor Anime Limited has revealed more information for their upcoming home video release of the theatrical anime film Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer and the OVA compilation series Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Special Edition.
Release Date
The latest Gundam release from Anime Limited will make its way to the UK home video market as a collector’s edition Blu-ray collection set starting Monday 3rd August 2020.
Collector’s Edition Details (+ Shop Exclusive Info)
Anime Limited will be releasing both Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer and Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Special Edition as one collection box set, and included in the sets are as follows:
- Rigid box to house 2 Amaray Blu-ray cases
- 1 Blu-ray disc for Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer
- 3 Blu-ray discs for Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Special Edition
- 7 Art Cards
The Blu-ray discs will be the same as the 2018 Nozomi Entertainment/Sunrise release from North America, which includes Japanese audio with English subtitles and the Bandai Entertainment English dub, and will offer on-disc bonus features such as Promotional Videos, Movie Trailer, TV Guide, and “Celestial Being” Movie Trailer. The Special Edition OVAs were never dubbed so it will be Japanese audio with English subtitles only.
In addition, those who order on Anime Limited’s web store will also be able to get their hands on a Shop Exclusive Box that will house the entire Gundam 00 collection aka the out of print collector’s editions of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Seasons 1-2 and this release. There will be 500 units available and will not be available outside Anime Limited’s store.
The SRP for the collector’s edition Blu-ray set is £59.99.

Starting Friday 19th June 2020 at 5:00pm British Standard Time, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Movie & Special Edition OVA Collection will be available to pre-order on Anime Limited’s store for £34.99 (or £31.50 if you have subscribed to the Screen Anime Film Festival) until Thursday 25th June. The regular collector’s edition version of the set will be available across multiple retailers over the coming days to weeks.
If you wanted to own the entire franchise in one go, there are 70 units available for the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Bundle which includes the collector’s editions for Season 1, Season 2, and the Movie & Special Edition OVA Collection at £104.97 (or £94.47 if you have subscribed to the Screen Anime Film Festival) until Thursday 25th June or much sooner as there is not much stock left.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer is a 2010 theatrical anime film directed by Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist) and animated by studio Sunrise (Love Live! School Idol Project). Other staff members include music composer Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell) and writer Yōsuke Kuroda (Excel Saga). Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Special Edition is a 2009-2010 original video anime series that compiles the events of the television anime series in three episodes at 90-minute runtime each.

“2314 A.D. The new government of the Earth Sphere Federation is carrying out a program of peaceful reconciliation and preparing for the appearance of the Innovators who will lead the human race into a new era. But the return of a derelict Jupiter exploration ship marks the beginning of an unprecedented crisis. What are the alien entities known as Extraterrestrial Living-metal Shape-shifters? What do they want? And will Setsuna F. Seiei and his fellow Gundam Meisters be able to answer these questions before humanity is wiped out?”
At the time of this post, there is no legal way to stream the film and the special edition OVAs so this upcoming UK Blu-ray release will be an opportunity for anime fans in the UK & Ireland to be able to check it out. You can, however, watch the television anime series over on Crunchyroll. Anime Limited announced the acquisition for the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 franchise back in May 2018 during MCM London Comic-Con.
