Who are the Straw Hat Pirates?
Monkey D. Luffy, the main character of One Piece, is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates – the most fun pirate crew to sail the seas. Free-spirited and ever the optimist, Luffy has always dreamed of becoming King of the Pirates. After eating the Gum-Gum Fruit as a child, he gained the ability to stretch his body like rubber – at the cost of being unable to swim.
Over the course of his adventures, Luffy has made many friends who have joined him as a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. These include the former pirate hunter turned loyal ally Roronoa Zoro, the treasure-hungry navigator Nami, and even the skeleton musician Brook, and more. Each member of the Straw Hat Pirates has their own fun quirks, and a dream that they’re prepared to risk everything for.
Who is Red-Haired Shanks?
Although his laid-back demeanour may fool you, Shanks is one of the most renowned and powerful pirates on the seas. Having started his swash-buckling career as an apprentice for the legendary Gold Roger, Shanks is now the leader of the Red-Hair Pirates, and one of the “Four Emperors” of the New World.
While stationed on a small island, Shanks came to be idolised by a young Luffy, inspiring his dreams of piracy. After sacrificing his arm to save Luffy from a sea monster, Shanks bequeathed to him his treasured Straw Hat – with the understanding that Luffy would return it once he had proven himself. However, Luffy might not be the only child Shanks left behind…
Who is Uta?
A brand-new character designed for One Piece Film: Red by the series’ creator Eiichiro Oda, Uta is the most beloved singer in the world with an ‘otherworldly voice’. Although she’s renowned for concealing her identity when performing, Uta is set to reveal herself to the whole world for the very first time – where everyone from pirates to the Navy will be shocked to learn that she is the daughter of Red-Haired Shanks!
