Just in case you thought there wouldn’t be enough Dragon Ball coverage here at Anime UK News, we have a slightly belated look at the second volume of the Dragon Ball Super manga, released here in the UK on the 28th of December (and therefore taking a long time to reach my house through holiday post…) Two universes collide in a tournament with… actually no real stakes, this time…

DBZ Movie Collection 4, awkwardly collecting Movies 7 and 9 (leaving 8 to be paired with the other two Broly movies… next month!), is full of good action and loosely defined villains, as well as Androids and … very on-the-nose Space Pirates! Who doesn’t want to watch those?!

Despite some exciting sequences, much of the second part of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ drags as much as the first.

The combination of beguilingly attractive art and an intriguing story concept in Rihito Takarai's 'Graineliers' will appeal to readers in search of something truly 'different'.

Attack on Titan: No Regrets is a must-own for all Attack on Titan fans. The chance to get a glimpse into Levi’s background is a welcome one and being able to see it all in full colour is a real treat.

Overall Sword of the Stranger is a bit of a mixed bag. The story, animation and cast are a strong point - if you can overlook the predictable path of the plot - but the music really lets things down. This isn’t a must-watch for anyone but could still be a hidden gem for BONES.

Ajin: Demi Human deals with many gruesome themes with excellently thought-out mythology and unique animation, but the largely dour and gloomy cast with little variety will be the deal breaker for most.

The first volume of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc is a delightful success; from the lovely art and the characters to the new story’s beginnings – all of it feels like a genuine continuation that CLAMP wanted and felt creatively compelled to do. If you’re a CLAMP fan, do not hesitate to pick up this volume.

“Remember Frieza? He was good, wasn’t he? Why don’t we do that again.” And so Dragon Ball Z Movies 5 and 6 were created! Let’s have a look if they were any good, shall we?

This penultimate Fairy Tail collection is at times both overdramatic and anticlimactic.

Digimon Tri Chapter 3: Confession is the best entry in the series so far, having a balance of a great story and character development, with a good dose of action.

The two Genius Party films are short story anthologies full of new short animations created and/or directed by some of the best and well regarded directors and visionaries in Japan. These shorts range from grand spectacle to the relatable and human to the completely bizarre. There is no linking narrative, no one single art style, it was literally all about giving these people a platform to show off. Does it work? Well...

Fate/Apocrypha is 12 episodes complete with grand battles, great animation and glorious Fate-fanservice magic in a new overblown but fun-filled story. If you have Netflix, then don’t hesitate to check it out.

Whilst there is a strong concept at the core of Castle Town Dandelion, there are so many issues that it makes it tough to recommend, despite the occasional glimpses of good

The “Tournament of Power” continues onwards as Dragon Ball Super shows more fights, transformations and magical girl parodies than you can shake a stick at… oh and technically Episode 118 might have the highest death counter in anime history! Read on to find out more!
