New Anime Limited News/Updates on ‘Gangsta.’, ‘Gundam ZZ’ & More!

Some interesting updates are in store from this past week.

This week has offered quite a fair amount of updates for distributor Anime Limited, with the Your Name Deluxe Edition now shipping early to the surprise final details of Durarara!!x2 Ten now cropping up, which we have covered previously this past week. Throughout the past couple of days we have noticed a fair bit more news surrounding other titles in the Anime Limited backlog as well as a mini-update for Funimation UK.

Expect Anime Limited to offer more detailed info later down the line, but here’s a quick taster to what has been shown off so far.

[UPDATE 17TH NOV!] Ajin: Demi-Human

We noted that Ajin: Demi-Human would be coming to the UK on home video later this month, but now Anime Limited have provided a quick update on the matter. Folks who are attending MCM Comic Con Birmingham will be able to get their hands on the set early, but due to the Christmas rush the AllTheAnime shop has been pushed back to 11th December 2017.

The good news is that an early bird sale will be able for a shop exclusive version of the collector’s edition set that comes with an A3 poster (similar to A Silent Voice where it’ll be in a poster tube and not folded) for £34.99. More details on the release here.

Durarara!!x2 Ten

As a quick remainder in case you didn’t see the article earlier in the week, Durarara!!x2 Ten is the second arc in the series’ second season and it will soon be released on 27th November 2017. The Collector’s Edition Blu-ray was shown off and just as we typed this article up, Anime Limited have offered an unboxing which we’ll link to right here!

Durarara!!x2 Ten will contain all 12 main episodes from that arc in both English & Japanese with English subtitles – the OVA episode 13.5 will not be included (as it’s exclusive to the Aniplex of America release). The Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and Standard Edition DVD will be available at the date mentioned above. There is still time to pre-order the show on Shop AllTheAnime at an early bird price of £34.99 for the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, plus for those who have yet to acquire the first arc Shou there’s a bargain price of £19.99 also available. Both of these deals will conclude by 20th November 2017.

Gangsta.

Around a month or two ago we discovered that Manglobe’s last anime series Gangsta. was rated by the BBFC so we had a general idea of the UK home video release coming closer and closer. Now we can confirm that the artwork for the Blu-ray Collector’s Edition has been revealed, which shares some resemblance to the French @Anime release. Unlike the French release however, this version will be using the home video masters from Funimation’s Blu-ray release.

Gangsta. has had a rough home video release schedule in Japan but now fans outside the region can own the series. The show will be available in both English & Japanese with English subtitles. The Blu-ray Collector’s Edition offers a chipboard box, digipack and a booklet for SRP £59.99. The set is currently tentatively scheduled for 4th December 2017, however the DVD Standard Edition won’t be available until 8th January 2018 for the time being.

You can view the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray listing on Anime Limited’s Shop.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Part 2

The Gundam releases continue for the UK with the second half of Gundam ZZ. Gundam ZZ Part 2 was initially scheduled for sometime this December but it will now be released on 8th January 2018. Anime Limited’s right-hand man Jeremy Graves has offered a detailed explanation to us about the matter:

Gundam ZZ Part 2 was down as TBC December on our site as I’m sure was previously noted somewhere in this thread, because it was likely going to end up coming out over Christmas the way things were working out. This really isn’t a great time for new releases to be released in general, especially when it comes the retailers receiving stock of the product itself, the product then actually get shipped properly & timely by retailers, and then actually getting it delivered by Royal Mail.

So factoring all that into account, along with production times, we decided to shift it back by just a couple of weeks to early to early January to avoid that problem.

But, that’s not to say the stock won’t be produced by then. Chances are any orders from us will be shipped before Christmas. Not an ideal scenario, but there is sound logic behind it.

Though I pretty much finished QC of the discs yesterday, production times of the actual physical parts at this time of year means things can’t produced as quickly now. (The entire entertainment industry is on essentially on a red alert status for getting products produced in time for Christmas.)

So lots of factors coming into play here, but we really don’t want this release to potentially be negatively impacted by releasing it over Christmas. I know it’s not what you or anyone else wants to hear, but it’s the truth. We obviously didn’t want it to end up that way but it’s the safest way. Hope that helps 🙂

On the positive side of things we can confirm that the artwork for Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Part 2 was also revealed. Like the previous Gundam titles, the second half of Gundam ZZ will offer a booklet for the first 1000 units of the set. It will be released on Blu-ray only and it is also in Japanese with English subtitles only.

You can view the 1000 Print Edition Blu-ray listing on Anime Limited’s Shop.

Fairy Tail

The monthly releases of Fairy Tail have been consistent throughout the past year and we are almost there! Funimation’s US release is currently up to Part 22 and they have yet to schedule the final part (which covers the Fairy Tail Zero arc) so the UK’s monthly schedule has been great so far.

We can now confirm that both Parts 20 and 21 will be available before the end of the year, in addition the artwork has also been revealed. Part 20 will be available on 27th November 2017 while Part 21 will be available on 18th December 2018. Part 20 covers the episodes 227–239 while Part 21 covers the episodes 240-252. These episodes cover the Sun Village arc as well as two-thirds of the Tartaros arc. The Tartaros arc will conclude on Part 22 which is set for early 2018.

At the time being all part releases of Fairy Tail are on DVD only in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles. The second Fairy Tail movie Dragon Cry will be released by Anime Limited sometime during the first-half of 2018.

Lucky Star Collector’s Edition OOP Status

Earlier in the past couple of weeks we have been offering updates on select titles going out of print over on Anime Limited’s store. Today, we can confirm that the Collector’s Edition release of Lucky Star has officially gone out of print, as the set has now sold out on the store. What this means is that any remaining stock found on other retailer sites will be what’s left of the set, with no plans for any reprints. There will be a standard edition Blu-ray set later down the line.

The Collector’s Edition Blu-ray set was a complete series release with a chipboard box, digipack and a booklet full of artwork. Worth noting that the show’s Blu-ray master is an upscale which is a make-or-break choice for certain anime fans out there.

Lu Over the Wall

And last but not least, a brief reminder that the next anime film to hit the UK theatrical screens will be Masaaki Yuasa’s Lu Over the Wall which will be screened nationwide on Wednesday 6th December 2017. We have a well-detailed cinema listing article dedicated to the film available for more info.
