Seven Seas Licenses The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, Arifureta and More!

Seven Seas Entertainment has been announcing a wonderful variety of new manga and light novel  licenses, with a range of titles to please readers of different genres.

BL/josei readers (often neglected) will be delighted to see that Setona Mizushiro’s much requested  The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese has been licensed at last, as well as its sequel The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice. A Mature-rated josei drama about two men and their fraught sexual relationship by the creator of Black Rose Alice and After School Nightmare. This is definitely manga for grown-ups. The first book will be released on November 5, 2019.

Also announced tonight are the license acquisition–both print and digital–of two manga spin-offs from the hit multimedia franchise: the backstory series Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest Zero by Ryo Shirakome and Ataru Kamichi, and the 4-panel comedy series Arifureta: I Love Isekai by Ryo Shirakome and Misaki Mori!

Tonight’s first announcement — both print and digital —  is Ghostly Things by Ushio Shirotori, the gorgeous supernatural manga about living in a house of spirits! High school student Takahara Yachiho has just moved into a notoriously haunted house on the outskirts of town. With only her cat Fuku-chan for company, Yachiho is disturbed by strange sounds and happenings…until the day she comes across a small passage leading to a hidden lower floor. There she discovers spirits of all shapes and sizes, guided by the tiny supernatural “manager” Moro. If Yachiho is to call this place home, she’ll have to deal with its ghostly denizens–and find a mysterious book that may be the key to locating her missing mother.

These titles are in addition to the four revealed yesterday: Become You: Kimi ni Nare by Ichigo Takano, the new dramatic manga about high school musicians by the creator of the Eisner-nominated orange; Reincarnated as a Sword by Yuu Tanaka and Llo, the light novel series about an otaku reborn as a weapon for a beautiful cat girl; How to Train Your Devil by Tonchi Kataoka, the hilarious fantasy manga about a heroine tasked with reforming a tiny demon lord – and  Our Wonderful Days by Kei Hamuro, the touching yuri manga series about two girls falling in love in the Japanese countryside!

More new titles will be revealed on January 11th.
