MVM Licenses Anohana, Domestic Girlfriend, Rascal Bunny Girl Senpai, Revue Starlight & More
Distributor MVM Entertainment has announced their latest batch of anime they will be bringing to the UK on home video, as part of their regular license reveals from MCM London Comic Con. Earlier in the month they already announced plans to bring a couple of titles ahead of schedule like Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Eromanga Sensei and Blu-ray versions for The Garden of Sinners, which you can read more here.
Prior to the MCM weekend, the distributor also mentioned at least 10 titles that would be announced. We are happy to confirm that 8 titles have been announced, with 1 more as a recap from last year’s haul. We’re going to start off with the titles that have come from Aniplex. Please note that the plot synopsis is credited to Aniplex of America.
Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
(Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.)
Anohana is finally coming to the UK. The 11 episode series was animated by studio A-1 Pictures, directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai and written by Mari Okada. It aired back in Spring 2011 and will be available in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles when it comes to home video.
Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only and there is currently no legal streaming option available.
Jinta Yadomi and his group of childhood friends had become estranged after a tragic incident split them apart. Now in their high school years, an unexpected surprise forces each of them to confront their guilt over what happened that day. They must overcome the burdens of their past, and come to terms with years of shame, hard feelings, and heartaches.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
(Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai)
The 13 episode series aired during the Autumn 2018 season and was animated by studio CloverWorks, directed by Souichi Masui and written by Masahiro Yokotani. It is based on the light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida.
Aniplex of America has yet to reveal details on whether the series will receive an English dub so audio formats are not known at the time of this post. Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only, and the show is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation Now.
Puberty syndrome – Abnormal experiences rumored on the internet to be caused by sensitivity and instability during adolescence. This year, Sakuta Azusagawa, a second-year student at a high school near Enoshima, meets several girls that are experiencing this “puberty syndrome.” For instance, he meets a wild bunny girl in the library. She turns out to be an actress on hiatus, Mai Sakurajima, who is also his senior at the school. For some reason, no one else can see this enchanting girl. How did she become invisible…?
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs
(Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san)
The 12 episode series aired during the Summer 2018 season and was animated by studio Xebec, directed by Tsuyoshi Nagasawa and written by Hideaki Koyasu. It is based on the Shonen Jump manga series written by Tadahiro Miura.
Aniplex of America has yet to reveal details on whether the series will receive an English dub so audio formats are not known at the time of this post, but it is expected to be using the home video masters (therefore no broadcast censorship). Formats are also expected to be Blu-ray only, and the show is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Kogarashi Fuyuzora is a “hands on” psychic. Ever since the day he got possessed by an evil ghost, he has been burdened with debt. Needing a cheap room to rent, he winds up at a haunted hot springs inn, Yuragi Inn, where only incredibly beautiful girls reside. Amongst the residents is a ghost, Yuuna, who cannot move on to the spirit world. Despite the resistance from the current tenants that are all girls, Kogarashi manages to start his new life at Yuragi Inn.

Asura Cryin’
Recently rescued in the US by Maiden Japan, both seasons of Asura Cryin’ are coming to the UK. The 26 episode series was animated by studio Seven Arcs, directed by Keizou Kusakawa and written by Katsuhiko Koide. It aired back in the Spring and Fall 2009 seasons and will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles when it comes to home video.
Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only and the show is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Some people are haunted by memories, but Tomoharu is haunted by his friend Misao, who died in a horrible plane crash that Tomo somehow survived. While having a girl that no one else can see hanging around is a little odd, it’s not until Tomo’s mom gets remarried, leaving Tomo alone, that things get really weird: A mysterious girl appears with a package that Tomo is supposed to guard. A second girl breaks into the house, demanding something called an “extractor”. And both girls can inexplicably see Misao! As more people target the package and Tomo, the mystery only deepens. What’s in the package, why are so many people after it, and is it connected to the plane crash or something even more sinister?
Domestic Girlfriend

The 12 episode series aired during the Winter 2019 season and was animated by studio Diomedea, directed by Shouta Ihata and written by Tatsuya Takahashi. It is based on the manga series written by Kei Sasuga.
The series will be available in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles when it comes to home video. It is currently unknown whether or not the home video version will include the extended unaired scenes that are featured exclusively through the Japanese manga volumes (22 to 25 respectively). Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only, and the show is available to stream on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE.
Natsuo is a high school boy who is experiencing the crushing despair of unrequited love. To make matters worse, the person he is in love with is his teacher, Hina. In an attempt to lift his spirits, he attends a mixer where he meets a girl named Rui. The two sleep together, expecting never to see one another again, but fate has other plans. His life suddenly becomes more complicated when his father comes home and announces he has remarried a woman with two daughters whom Natsuo has met before: Hina and Rui!
The Girl in Twilight

Constantly on the lookout for her next big adventure, the cheerful and kind Asuka Tsuchimiya is always ready to try new things with her high school friends from the Crystal Radio Club. One day, the group performs a ritual from an urban myth just for fun. However, several conditions had fallen into place to put the ritual in motion, opening the door to a new world of gold and jet black. In this world, Asuka finds a different version of herself and soon finds out that some doors were never meant to be opened.
Mysteria Friends

The 10 episode series aired during the Winter 2019 season and was animated by studio Cygames Pictures, directed by Hideki Okamoto and written by Satoko Sekine. It is based on the Rage of Bahamut mobile game series.
The series will be available in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles when it comes to home video. Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only, and the show is available to stream on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE.
Mysteria Academy is a prestigious magic school that teaches magic without discrimination to the three factions (men, gods, demons), who usually are engaged in battle with each other. Two of the academy’s students are Anne, a princess and honor student, and Grea, a princess born from a dragon and a human.
Revue Starlight

The 12 episode series aired during the Summer 2018 season and was animated by studio Kinema Citrus, directed by Tomohiro Furukawa and written by Tatsuto Higuchi.
The series will be available in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles when it comes to home video. Formats are expected to be Blu-ray only, and the show is available to stream on HIDIVE.

The recap title that was also mentioned is Himouto! Umaru-chan R, the second season from studio Doga Kobo based on SankakuHead’s manga series. MVM announced the license back in October 2017, and the reason it’s taken this long for a release is that Sentai Filmworks (who sub-licensed the UK rights to MVM) are still working on it at the time of this post.
MVM also has yet to release STARMYU Season 2 from the studio C-Station. MVM announced the license back in May 2018 and the season has yet to be solicited in the US so until then it won’t be on the schedule in the meantime.
