Anime Limited Licenses Love Live! Superstar

The spotlight is now on the next stage of the school idol project, with Love Live! Superstar!!, the latest instalment in the popular Love Live! music franchise. Anime Limited, who have released previous iterations of Love Live! in the UK and Ireland, have today announced their license to this new series – which follows the story of a whole new school idol group, Liella!. The first episode is available to stream on Crunchyroll now, with new episodes releasing at 3am on Tuesdays. This news follows our discovery yesterday of listings for the series.

Anime Limited describes the series as follows:

The new me begins now!
Idols at school – the start of a new school drama linking five young girls!

The first students have arrived at Yuigaoka Girls’ High School, a new academy built on the crossroads of three Tokyo neighborhoods—Omotesando, Harajuku, and Aoyama. With no history, no upperclassmen to rely on, and no name to speak of, this school’s totally starting from scratch!
In the midst of this, a team of five girls led by Kanon Shibuya discover “school idols.”

—I love singing! I really do! And I want to accomplish something with it!
So the hopes of these stars, still small in stature, begin to accumulate…and so begins the “School Idol Project” of five girls with a blank slate and infinite potential.

Time for our Love Live to take flight!

Love Live! Superstar!! is the fourth television anime series in the popular Love Live! franchise, although like other new series, it follows a largely independent story. The new series follows 2013’s Love Live! school idol project, 2016’s Love Live! Sunshine!!, and 2020’s Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. Each previous series aired for two seasons, with Nijigasaki‘s currently announced for a 2022 release. The franchise has also spawned two anime movies, 2015’s Love Live! The School Idol Movie and 2019’s Love Live! Sunshine!! The Movie: Over the Rainbow. MVM Entertainment released Love Live! School Idol Project on Blu-ray and DVD in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while subsequent titles have been licensed by Anime Limited. The second season of Love Live! The School Idol Project is currently available for streaming on Funimation, while Sunshine!!Nijigasaki High School Idol Club and Superstar!! are streaming on Crunchyroll.
