Chainsaw Man to Get Anime by Attack On Titan: The Final Season Studio

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man, the gory and action-packed dark fantasy manga, is cutting through the pages of Weekly Shonen JUMP and is headed to the silver screen with a TV anime adaptation, the latest issue of the manga anthology magazine announced today. The anime will be produced by MAPPA, who are behind two of this season’s most hotly anticipated titles: Attack On Titan: The Final Season and Jujutsu Kaisen. No other staff or news related to the anime have been confirmed at this time.

Viz Media, who publish the manga in English, describe Chainsaw Man‘s story as follows:

Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil-dog Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!

The original manga started publication in December 2018, and concluded the “first part” of its story in Weekly Shonen JUMP magazine with the publication of its 97th chapter today, with its second part to continue in Japan’s online sister publication JUMP+. Viz Media has been serialising the series on their Weekly Shonen JUMP online platform, and have published the first two volumes in print at time of writing.
