Funimation UK Announces Akudama Drive, Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, Death Parade, Nichijou for December 2021 Home Video Schedule

Distributor Funimation have announced their home video release plans for the month of December 2021, for the United Kingdom and Ireland territories.

This batch features more catalog releases, including two titles that were initially supposed to have been released many years ago! The line-up below will be sorted by order of release.

The write-up has been updated with Suggested Retail Prices that were revealed after its announcement. Most artwork below are from the Funimation US version, though the final product tends to be the same but with BBFC logos.

In addition, delays happen so all of the dates below are subject to change (especially for the limited editions).

29th November 2021

Starting off with a late addition to the November slate with two more regular releases.

Assassination Classroom will now receive a regular complete collection Blu-ray release (£49.99 SRP) under the Funimation name. Previously the distributor had been releasing unsold stock of Anime Limited’s complete collection release.

The collection will contain all 22 episodes of Season 1 and 22 episodes of Season 2 with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

After a long break, One Piece returns with Collection 24 on DVD (£34.99 SRP).

This collection features episodes 564-574 of the Fishman Island arc and episodes 575-587 of the Punk Hazard arc with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

6th December 2021

Next we have a mixture of re-releases and new catalog additions.

AKIRA will once again receive another re-release, this time being a standard edition 4K Ultra HD release. The film’s previous release was a limited edition back in December 2020.

The disc will be the amended version which includes High Dynamic Range. Audio options include both English dubs & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled makes a return to the UK schedule, after it was in limbo for many years under KAZE UK since 2015.

Rather than KAZE’s two-three part plan, Funimation will be releasing the OVA series in one complete collection Blu-ray release in both standard (£34.99 SRP) and limited edition (£44.99 SRP) box sets. A DVD version (£24.99 SRP) will also be available.

This collection covers all 5 OVA episodes with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles. The limited edition includes a rigid box, 32 page booklet and 6 art cards.

Fire Force Season 1 will be receiving a complete collection Blu-ray release (£49.99 SRP). Previously it was released as a two-part release throughout 2020.

This collection covers all 24 episodes of the first season with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

Rounding up this week’s release is Yu Yu Hakusho Season 3 on Blu-ray (£39.99 SRP).

This collection covers episodes 57-84 of the series with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

13th December 2021

This batch includes another round of catalog additions, including one from Kyoto Animation.

Death Parade also makes a return to the UK schedule, after its previous Ultimate Edition release by Anime Limited was cancelled due to being caught up in the April 2019 Funimation license expiration event.

Fortunately, the series will be released in one complete collection Blu-ray release in both standard (£29.99 SRP) and limited edition (£59.99 SRP) box sets. A DVD version (£24.99 SRP) will also be available.

This collection covers all 12 episodes with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles plus the subtitled only Death Billiards OVA. The limited edition includes a rigid box, 40 page booklet and 6 art cards.

Nichijou: My Ordinary Life finally makes its UK home video debut with a complete collection Blu-ray release in both standard (£39.99 SRP) and limited edition (£64.99 SRP) box sets.

This collection covers all 26 episodes with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles plus the Episode 0 OVA. The limited edition includes a rigid box, 40 page booklet and 6 art cards.

Rounding up this week’s release is Robotech Part 2: The Masters Saga on Blu-ray (£49.99 SRP).

This collection covers episodes 37-60 of the series, which is an English version of Yasuo Hasegawa and Tatsunoko Production’s Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross.

20th December 2021

Only one release for this week and it’s a re-release of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1 as a regular complete collection Blu-ray release (£49.99 SRP). Previously it was released as a two-part release in 2020. A DVD version (£39.99 SRP) will also be available.

This collection covers all 25 episodes with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles.

27th December 2021

Wrapping up the year of 2021 is Akudama Drive from the Autumn 2020 anime season as a regular complete collection Blu-ray release (£44.99 SRP).

This collection covers all 12 episodes with English & Japanese audio with English subtitles. Funimation is offering a limited edition release in the United States & Canada but currently there are no plans for the same treatment in the United Kingdom & Ireland.

That’s all of the news revealed from their official blog post. Golden Kamuy Seasons 1 & 2 were pushed back into 2022 unfortunately, now scheduled for 24th January and 28th March respectively.
