Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin I – IV Collection Review
The prequel: a phrase that often causes more eye-rolling than excitement, followed by the sentence “that’s great and all, but does that story really need to be told?” Well, Gundam The Origin is a six-part OVA series set before, and leading straight into, the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. These first four focus on the backstory of one of the lead characters: Char Aznable, but does this need to be told, and more importantly, is it any good?

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 32 Review
Naruto Shippuden’s 32nd release is almost entirely filler, despite what the front cover wants you to think. The “New Chunin Exams arc”, as it’s often called, concludes at Episode 413, giving a whole two canon episodes! Is this filler arc worth sticking with, or are you going to buy the set for two episodes' worth of content? Let’s find out if either are going to be true…

ERASED – Part 2 Review
After a sadly long eight months wait, the second half of the 2016 hit ERASED finally makes it to disc here in the UK. After such a promising first half, does the series get the big pay-off it deserves? Read on to find out! (Although you’ve probably already watched the end on Crunchyroll or Netflix in the past 8 months due to understandably running out of patience, but hey-ho…)

GATE – Collector’s Edition Review
GATE is a hard show to talk about without getting into nationalistic propaganda debates and general right- wing unpleasantness, but ignoring this argument for the time being, the show has some merit, not least its premise of a modern army fighting a bunch of races and animals from a typical fantasy land. Is there more good than bad, though?

Dragon Ball Z – The TV Specials Double Feature
Just when you thought Manga was done releasing two Dragon Ball Z short-length films, they… well, they release two TV specials which are roughly the same length as the 13 films released previously. While there are differences between the films and TV Specials (and not all of them good), story-wise it’s hard to find two better examples of the Dragon Ball franchise taking itself uncharacteristically more seriously. Is that a good thing, though…?

My Hero Academia – Season 2 Part 1 Review
The latest big hit from all powerful weekly manga magazine Shonen Jump!, My Hero Academia turned plenty of heads when it first appeared in anime form in 2016, and the second season only added more momentum to the series’ worldwide popularity. This set collects the first twelve episodes of Season 2, a complete story arc based around a tournament! There’s an original concept! … Seriously though, it’s great. So let’s see why!

Dragon Ball Super Episodes 119 – 131 Review
It’s been a long and crazy road since Dragon Ball Super began in July 2015, but now the series has come to an end (well, with at least one more movie to come, and an ongoing manga still being written…) What the Universe Survival Arc lacked in storyline it made up for in great, over-the-top action, and that still held true for this last block of episodes. So let’s take a look, shall we...!

Dragon Ball Z – Movie Collection 6 Review
Dragon Ball Z Movie Collection 6 brings together the final two movies from the 1989 – 1995 run of 13 DBZ movies, the two movies that for the longest time were plainly “the final two Dragon Ball movies”. Past villains escaping from Hell, fusion, fart gags, a cartoon interpretation of Hitler and Godzilla parodies are all on offer here, but the big question remains, does this run of 45-minute films end on a high note…?

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 31 Review
After two releases containing nearly nothing but adaptations of the manga, Naruto Shippuden Box Set 31 falls into a filler-fest, to the sad surprise of nobody. But is the filler here any good, or is it so bad it’s worth losing the few “canon” episodes contained in this set by skipping it? Let’s find out!

Dragon Ball Z – Movie Collection Five Review
The Legendary Super Saiyan known as Broly is, undoubtedly, the most Marmite character in the Dragon Ball franchise. The phrase “you either love him or hate him” may as well be made for him, as seemingly most fans land on one side or the other, but does the truth lie somewhere in the middle? Let’s take a look at Manga Entertainment’s 5th movie collection, bringing together all three of Broly’s movies, and see, shall we?
