A pirate festival makes an appropriate setting for the film marking One Piece's 20 years of animation.

Each individual Code Geass film is far from flawless, but as a trilogy, and especially this last entry, it’s a blast from start to finish.

The botched attempt to cram so much material in a small-time frame is not a fun watching experience. This movie is for diehard Code Geass fans only.

You can all let out a collective breath because Weathering With You is a great film, and with it opening in the UK at the start of 2020, let’s hope it’s a sign of a spectacular year of anime films to come.

Overall, The Garden of Sinners is a mixed bag. The films are interesting but the quality varies a lot and they’re not for everyone. If you’re a particular fan of Ufotable then they’re well worth watching for the animation, but that won’t overcome their shortcomings for everyone.

Promare is a film not to be missed. There is nothing quite like it out there, certainly nothing which is so much fun for the entire runtime. Hiroyuki Imaishi and Kazuki Nakashima have once again created something truly unforgettable which will be a joy to watch for many years to come.

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade presents a story of loss and sacrifice with a simple yet moving premise presented effectively thanks to the winning combination of Mamoru Oshii’s writing and Hiroyuki Okiura’s directing.

If you missed Season 2 – or just want to remind yourself of what happened before plunging into Season 3, the film Attack on Titan: Roar of Awakening is an excellent way to catch up.

Okko’s Inn is an entertaining and often poignant film that deals with its themes maturely but also with a warmth that makes it accessible for a younger audience but deep enough for older viewers to appreciate too. Director Kitarô Kôsaka shows some promise and I look forward to their future works.

Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu brings this prequel story to a close wonderfully. With dramatic action, heartfelt discussions, and good old Monogatari humour, there is plenty to enjoy here. Both newcomers and longtime fans will want to own this trilogy in their collections! 

Kizumonogatari is off to a slow but entertaining start. Having read the novel, I’m looking forward to what comes next in the films. However, even newcomers to Kizumonogatari’s story will be hooked from this intriguing beginning.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is a thrilling action film, pitting Goku and Vegata against the hulking Broly with some great animation work and a solid backstory that eases in newcomers to the franchise. For all its outrageous action that fans will love, those coming into this fresh will find the elongated fight scenes go on for far too long, perhaps resulting in them switching off in its final moments.

Interviews, lectures, storyboards and the original soundtrack are among some of the extras in this new collection of Satoshi Kon's classic horror film.

It’s too early to tell right now whether this will end up being the best adaptation of Fate/Stay Night so far, but as a stand-alone movie, it delivers exactly what you expect from this route and from this production company.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes is a typical franchise film that gives a bit more of the series to the fans eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
